VaultBell is designed to store documents and reminder dates privately on the user's iPhone. The app does not require an online account and does not operate a developer-controlled server.
Information VaultBell processes
VaultBell processes only the information a user chooses to place in the app, which may include documents, scans, document titles, categories, issuer names, private notes, file metadata, and renewal or expiry dates. This information is processed locally to provide the vault, preview, search, backup, restore, automatic date suggestion, and reminder features.
Data collection and tracking
VaultBell does not send vault content or app usage data to the developer. The app does not include advertising, analytics, cross-app tracking, or third-party software development kits. The developer does not collect personal data through the app.
Purchases and free trials
VaultBell offers monthly and yearly auto-renewable subscriptions and a one-time Lifetime purchase through Apple's App Store. Eligible new monthly and yearly subscribers may receive a 7-day introductory free trial. Apple processes payments, determines introductory-offer eligibility, and provides verified purchase status to the app through StoreKit. VaultBell does not receive or store payment-card details. Apple's handling of purchase and account information is governed by Apple's privacy policy and App Store terms.
Local security
Documents and vault metadata are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before local storage. The vault uses iOS data protection, requires a six-digit local vault code, and can optionally use Face ID or Touch ID for re-entry. VaultBell does not receive or store biometric data.
Decrypted document previews are written only to protected temporary storage and are removed when the preview closes or the vault locks.
Camera, files, biometrics, and notifications
- Camera access is used when the user chooses to scan a paper document.
- File access is used when the user chooses a file to import, a location for an encrypted backup, or a backup to restore.
- Text recognition runs on the iPhone to look for expiry and renewal dates. Recognized document text is not sent to the developer or a third-party service, and suggested dates are shown for user confirmation.
- Face ID or Touch ID is optional and is handled by Apple's system services.
- Notifications are optional local reminders. Their text does not contain document names.
Encrypted backups
A user may create an encrypted backup protected by a separate password. The user chooses where the backup file is saved. VaultBell does not upload the backup or store its password. If the user saves a backup through a third-party Files provider, that provider's privacy policy applies to its storage service.
Retention and deletion
Vault information remains on the iPhone until the user deletes an individual document or deletes the app. Deleting the app removes its local vault. VaultBell cannot recover a deleted vault, a forgotten vault code, or a forgotten backup password.
Children
VaultBell is a general-purpose utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other users.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if VaultBell's features or data practices change. A revised policy will identify its new effective date.
